THE ROLE OF ICT IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE.

     ICT has now become vital parts of everyday life of most developed world, with so many functions such as the banking sector, social economical.It helps us keep in touch with our friends through chat rooms, face, book, instagram, blackberry and so on and the number of things we do is growing rapidly
               Computer are used in delivering instructional materials to learners.The application of ict gives more opportunities for communication between peer learners,where by they change information, and even practice to blog discussion as we are doing now in our ict course they can also work together in teams, exchange ideas on different topic or projects. By using the right material available provided by the internet, one will be able to have better knowledge into the culture of people and country whose language we study.
          
               In a language classroom the computer may have the following roles:

1. Teachers - it teaches the new language of students
2. Tester  -it test students on the things they have learned
3. Tool - it assist the student in doing certain tasks.
4. Data Source - helps in providing students in doing certain tasks they need to do various activities.
5. Facilitator -this allows students to communicate with each other.  

    
computer as a teacher: As we can see very well now as time goes on the computer is going to       soon replace  the teacher and the teacher will no longer teach rather teachers will guide only students. Computer as a teacher uses  CD ROMS. Students can listen to recordings in such programs  and practice all their skills.

 Computer as a tester: The students using their knowledge of language will be able to practice different internet websites.

 Computer as as a tool: Computer as a tool because they provide us tool for acquiring foreign language. the pictures ,projects ,exercises and all tools of teaching materials.

Computer as a data source: As information provider are all known that due to the usage of computer we can access almost any information we need to know. That is why as teachers we should provide our students with useful websites, so as to help them solve their task.

Computer as a facilitator: Computer has now been the principal medium of communication between students this can be done by email, chatting, or by disscussion forums. Therefore teachers can set up disscussion forums and use them to communicate with topic of intrest.
